SOPHIE ROSE
ABOUT SOPHIE ROSE
Sophie (Rose) Hague is a painter working primarily in oils, using methods grounded in the classical tradition. She has completed a Diploma of Fine Arts from the Julian Ashton Art School, and has studied with tutors at the Florence Academy of Arts in Italy and Sweden.
Sophie paints realism through light and colour, striving to capture a depth of form and feeling in her work; whether this is the luminosity and presence of a figure, or the detail and interest of everyday objects in a still life. At times experimenting with non-traditional surfaces such as aluminium or perspex, her work always strives to incorporate a contemporary touch to a traditional medium.
